Most of the journal entries were contributed by individuals attending undergraduate and graduate business school while working at least part time. Many contributors worked full time in their career while taking classes at night. As a result, the average student age of 25 was older than the typical student population. Men and women were represented about equally in writing the journal entries.
This table summaries the number and percent of experiences in the database for the Form and Type categories. The most striking statistic was 54% for the Thought category of Form. There are least two factors at work here. First these journal entries were prepared by students in a business school where rational thinking reins supreme. Second given the emphasis on verbalization, thinking often masked a primary intuition in one of the more subtle Forms.

The distribution for the Kind categories was more uniform. The 25% for ESP stands out for a group of business majors. The ESPs were generally reported in the later rather than earlier journals in a series of nine entries. This reflects the increasing comfort individuals had with all Kinds of intuition once they began to reconnect with The Intuitive Self.
Detailed Frequencies
The following tables provide a more detailed tabulation for the Type, Form and Kind frequencies. The first lists the numerical totals for all four Types. Then there is one table each for three of the four: Personal, Professional and School. A separate table was not included for the Transcendent Type since it only occurs with the Epiphany Form. The row names list the six Forms while the abbreviation in the column heading indicates the Kind:

Several interesting characteristics emerge from the tables:
For Type, 49% were Personal while Professional and School were 37% and 14% respectively. Dominance of the Personal Type occurred because initially most people found that reconnecting with The Intuitive Self was easier in their personal lives.
The Thought Form dominated with 49%, 60% and 55% of the totals respectively for the Personal, Professional and School Types. Sensation, Emotion and Image were comparable in occurrence across the three Types.
The Body Form occurred less frequently since individuals were unaccustomed to noticing their body moving spontaneously as if it had taken on a life of its own. Most new observers of intuitive experience did not recognize this form when it takes place.
The 30% for ESP experiences in the Personal Type suggests business students' rational training did not completely suppress their connection with "intuition in the large" which connects with knowing beyond their education and experience. The 22% ESP for Professional was a pleasant surprise for this audience.
Except for Understanding, the frequencies for Kind were more uniform than those for Form. Understanding is the most general Kind. Discerning the deeper meanings in life and sensing how one fits into the larger scheme did not occur as often as the more down to earth Kinds.
The Transcendent Type table was not included since it would only have one entry in the last row and column. Epiphany and Understanding are the only Form and Kind consistent with this Type. These are rare but exceptional "thou are That" experiences expressed in Sanskrit by the phrase tat tvam asi when a person connects with the infinite realm of being.
Aside from the Transcendent Type, the Epiphany Form does not occur in other combinations since it is the distinctive Form for the Transcendent Type. The general Understanding Kind occurs among the other three Types but not as often as the other Kinds. |
