Journaling as a Process and Going to a Dinner Party

Thank you guys for "listening." It's not even necessary that you respond to support me in this discovery process. Doing this daily log, journal, diary whatever we call it demonstrates all over again the power of the technique for learning with a deeper sense of understanding. I first used journaling with students in the experimental section of Managerial Decision Styles in the Winter of 1979.

Once again using the approach for myself reinforces its value for a self awareness focused course like Intuition in Management. The fact that I'm writing this knowing that you'll be reading it stimulates clarity and persistence. This too must be true for the students since I read their entries. Journaling for the Fasting Odyssey redoubles my commitment to the use and value of Journaling in my classes - Thank you both!

Last night my host had a friend over for supper. The main dish was dahl over rice supplemented with a salad. I think the salad was added for me. I don't believe there would have been a salad if I hadn't been here. In addition she prepared a separate serving of the curried dahl without the added salts and oils. Even with the special preparation, the Indian spices disturbed my increasingly sensitive digestive tract. Going to someone's home to eat may not be an option following this diet.

Tonight I'll experiment with a way of handling this situation. We are going to another friend's house for supper. The main dish will be my favorite fish - salmon. My mouth is watering as I write this. She suggested I make a salad to take with me along with the left over rice from last night. Can you imagine arriving for a dinner party with a bag of food under my arm! Miss Manners would be appalled.

In this case the host seems to understand, and my friend assures me she will not be offended by a guest bringing their food to her dinner party. The host attended my session at the Intuition Network meeting in November. I'm not sure that would fly in most social settings though. This diet may limit my dinner parties to my daughter's's house. She is tolerant if not downright appreciative of her Dad's flakiness.
